Our Staff
|
Kath McCormack, MS, LMHC, is the Founder and Executive Director of the Healing
Center. Kath is a licensed counselor and has been in practice as a grief counselor
since 1991. She was the Bereavement Coordinator with Group Health Hospice from 1991
until 1999. Prior to coming to Seattle, she founded a nonprofit outdoor-education
program for children of diverse backgrounds, including inner-city and disabled youth.
She served as Associate Director and Director of Education for a nonprofit facility
for disabled adults in Oakland, California from 1975 until 1989. Kath began developing
her vision for The Healing Center soon after being widowed in 1989. She has a Bachelor
of Science degree in Community Service and Public Affairs, and a Masters Degree
in Education from the University of Oregon.

Ann Sparling White, MS, LMHC, CT, joined The Healing Center staff in 2005.
She provides individual counseling, coordinates our teen programs, and serves as
our liaison to schools. Ann has been helping children, parents, educators and health
professionals better understand and support human reactions to grief and loss for
over 20 years. She has worked in public schools as a grief consultant and has developed
children's bereavement groups, a nationally recognized puppet presentation for
elementary students, and camps for bereaved children. Ann is a graduate of Oregon
State University, with a degree in Secondary Education and Speech Communications.
She is certified in Thanatology: Death, Dying and Bereavement.

Dani Baker, MA, came to The Healing Center in 2005 as a graduate-level intern
studying at Antioch University Seattle. She completed her MA degree in Child, Couple
and Family Art Therapy in 2006. She joined the Healing Center staff in 2007, providing
individual and family art-therapy grief support; she also facilitates adult's
and children's support groups and workshops. Dani has worked with grieving families
since 2003, at Hospice of the North Coast, Camp HOPE, ALS Family Camp, and Camp
Erin. She was invited to present her graduate research project, Reconstructing Meaning:
Using Art to Cope with Grief and Loss, at the National Art Therapy Association Conference
in Atlanta in November 2005. Dani is currently working to publish her findings
in the American Art Therapy Journal.

Wendy Clough began working at The Healing Center in January 2008. She is
working on administrative, special event and development projects. Prior to working
here, she had been a client. Wendy's husband died suddenly in 2006. They had
2 little girls and then a 3rd born in July 2007. Wendy has several years of non
profit experience in marketing, special events, volunteer management and fundraising.
She and her family moved here from the Boston area in 2005.

Jeremy Peck, MBA, joined The Healing Center in July, 2008 as the organization’s
first Development Director. Jeremy previously worked at the Mercer Island
Boys & Girls Club for three and a half years as their Development Director where
he managed their special events and capital campaign. He also spent two years
in development at Junior Achievement Washington in Seattle. Jeremy holds a
BA in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, and an MBA in Nonprofit
Management from the American Jewish University in Los Angeles. As the organization’s
first Development Director, Jeremy looks to expand The Healing Center’s fundraising
to meet the growing needs of our organization.
